Radio Kielce's special broadcast. Colossal changes: The cement plant once and today

Radio Kielce hosted the Nowiny municipality with a holiday broadcast on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.

They talked about the development of the municipality, the economy, culture and ecology, the changes that have taken place over the decades and the prospects for the future. One of the interlocutors was a representative of the Nowiny cement plant of today Dyckerhoff Polska Sp. z o.o. Magadalena Fudala, a spokeswoman for the company.

The starting point for the conversation was the 1975 broadcast "Commune Under Concrete," which showed the difficult ecological situation of local residents, in the 1970s of the previous century, when no one paid attention to the environmental effects of industry.

- Fortunately, the broadcast is already 100 percent archived , not only because of the time in which it was made, but also the information it contained. Today the difference is colossal," said the spokeswoman, "Nowiny Cement Plant is a modern and innovative plant, an important employer and taxpayer for the municipality. Since privatization and ownership changes, practically everything at the plant has changed, not only in terms of production, but also in terms of environmental safety: noise restrictions, shock monitoring, reduction of CO2 and industrial dust emissions. The company also supports employees in prevention and health care. Today's plant no longer completely resembles the one that was built in the early 1960s. The chimneys don't smoke, the cement plant doesn't dust, roses grow around the silos, and you can meet hares in the morning, the spokeswoman added.

The broadcast also talked about the cement plant's good cooperation with the Nowiny municipality and joint ventures. Sebastian Nowaczkiewicz, head of the Nowiny municipality, was also a guest on the broadcast.
