Geography Lesson at the Cement Plant

Geography Lesson at the Cement Plant - Dyckerhoff Polska

Geography Lesson at the Cement Plant

At Dyckerhoff Polska, we are proud to have had the opportunity to conduct a geography lesson at our plant for the third time for third-year students from the nearby Włodzimierz Leonard Lubański Sports High School in Nowiny. The Nowiny Cement Plant serves as an excellent case study for students, being both a major employer and a dynamic representative of industry in the region.

The topic of this year’s lesson was: “The impact of the nearest industrial enterprise on the natural environment, the labor market, people’s quality of life, and the economic development of the immediate surroundings.”

Site Tour and Hands-on Education

Thanks to the close collaboration of the Health and Safety and Sustainable Development departments, the visit of the 30-student group proceeded safely and fully according to schedule. During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the clinker burning process from the very ground up, starting their journey at its source — our "Kowala" mine.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the youth with the specifics of operating a modern industrial plant and to help them understand its role in the local economic and social ecosystem. The students and their teachers also had the opportunity to explore the plant’s laboratory, which is equipped with state-of-the-art measuring instruments.

Modern Technology and Environmental Protection

The students were fascinated by the technologies involved in managing the flow of exhaust gases produced during clinker burning. The third-graders' visit to the facility helped them understand the complex path that exhaust gases must take and how thoroughly they are purified before finally reaching the stack.

We hope that this visit sparked the students' curiosity about cement production and encouraged them to learn more about our cement plant’s operations. We look forward to welcoming more student-athletes to future educational sessions at Dyckerhoff Polska!
